GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME) (NYSE:GME.B), a leading global
video game and entertainment software retailer, announced today that
it will host events at over 1,600 U.S. GameStop locations beginning at
12:01 a.m. on November 22, 2005, to celebrate the launch of the
much-anticipated Xbox 360 from Microsoft.
Due to exceptional demand, Xbox 360 hardware systems will only be
available for purchase to customers who have received confirmation of
delivery by GameStop.
Jack Beuttell, GameStop's Senior Vice-President of Marketing, also
announced that for an extra boost, energy drink manufacturer Red Bull
has teamed up with GameStop to keep consumer's energized during the
midnight launch excitement at over 250 GameStop stores throughout the
country. "GameStop is proud to offer our customers a celebration as we
bring to market the exciting new Xbox 360. It is also a great
opportunity for customers to purchase the available accessories and
titles now."
"This holiday season promises consumers 18 titles that
demonstrates the power and versatility of the platform," indicated Dan
Dematteo, GameStop's Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. "A
prospect for eager buyers to get the next-generation of gaming and
entertainment is GameStop's buy-sell-trade program, where consumers
can bring in their qualifying old games and receive credit towards the
purchase of this new system or other video games and systems."
