Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) (NYSE:FSL.B) has won
the prestigious Impact Supplier of the Year award from Lucent
Technologies (NYSE:LU). Lucent's Supply Chain Networks organization
bestowed the Impact award -- the company's highest tribute to its
top-tier suppliers -- at Lucent's annual Supplier Recognition Awards
Celebration on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, in Murray Hill, N.J.
"Lucent takes a great deal of pride in developing relationships
with the kinds of suppliers who share our commitment to our global
customers with reliable, high quality technology, and we rely on the
support of extraordinary manufacturing suppliers like Freescale to
help us do that," said Joe Carson, vice-president and chief
procurement executive at Lucent Technologies. "Freescale has
consistently exceeded our expectations in critical areas that are
essential to helping us meet the needs of our customers. We appreciate
Freescale's agility and excellence in customer service as we work
together."
"Receiving Lucent's Impact award is a tremendous honor which we're
proud to accept on behalf of everyone at Freescale," said David
Perkins, senior vice president and general manager of Freescale's
Networking and Computing Systems Group. "As a long-time supplier of
communications processors to Lucent, we never waver in our commitment
to helping Lucent win in the networking and communications marketplace
with superior solutions that in turn help enable their customers'
success."
During the awards ceremony, Lucent cited Freescale's excellence in
supply agility, technical support and best-in-class customer service
and relationship as key criteria for winning the 2006 manufacturing
supplier of the year award. The technical merit of the 2005 Freescale
Technology Forum, attended by Lucent design engineers, was also a
decisive factor in the award decision.
Prior to receiving this year's Impact award, Freescale won two
major Lucent supplier awards in December 2004:
-- The Golden Link award for excellence in delivery, technology,
value, quality and overall customer relationship.
-- The Winning Edge award for supporting Lucent's strategic bids
and proposals and providing strategic pricing assistance,
resulting in cost reductions.
