Four Seasons to open third hotel in China, joining Shanghai and
Hong Kong
Asian Portfolio Now Includes 16 Hotels and Resorts in 8 Countries
TORONTO, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Four Seasons announced that it has
signed an agreement with Evergreen Pte Ltd. to manage a new hotel in Beijing,
scheduled to open in mid 2006. With this announcement, Four Seasons establishes
itself in China's three most important markets. Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai
opened in 2002, and Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong is scheduled to open in 2005.
"We look forward to opening the doors of Four Seasons Hotel Beijing as the city
prepares to welcome the 2008 Olympic Games," said Isadore Sharp, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. "China continues to
grow in importance as a business and cultural destination for travelers from
around the world. Four Seasons will now be there to welcome them in China's key
city centres."
Located in Beijing's diplomatic and commercial center, the Hotel's location is
ideal for business and leisure guests. Four Seasons will be part of the Sunny
Region Development on Xiao Liang Ma Qiao Road in the Chao Yang District. The
new United States Embassy will be across the street, and the Japanese Embassy
just steps away. Within five minutes are two major exhibition centers and
numerous international corporate offices, while the Forbidden City, Tiananmen
Square and the Silk Market are all within fifteen minutes of the hotel. The
General Manager will be Stefan Simkovics, most recently the GM at Four Seasons
Hotel Berlin.
Four Seasons Hotel Beijing will offer approximately 300 guest rooms and suites
built around a central atrium. Complete meeting facilities include two
ballrooms and additional function spaces that will be easily accessed from the
adjacent commercial office tower. Three restaurants and a lobby lounge will
offer a variety of local and international dining experiences, and private
rooms will be available for more intimate business and social events. Both the
business traveler and tourist will appreciate the extensive spa and fitness
facilities planned at the Hotel. The spa will offer a full range of treatments,
and guests can exercise using the most advanced cardiovascular and strength
training equipment in the gym, or workout in the indoor pool.
