Forest City earns LEED, Green Lease Leader and ENERGY STAR recognitions

CLEVELAND, Aug. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Forest City Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FCEA) today announced three significant sustainability recognitions from prominent organizations. Along with other real estate companies committed to green development and management, Forest City was named a:

• LEED Power Builder by the U.S. Green Building Council
• Green Lease Leader by The Institute for Market Transformation (IMT) and The DOE's Better Buildings Alliance
• ENERGY STAR Charter Tenant Space recognition by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

LEED Power Builder
Forest City was chosen as a one of 18 Power Builders by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as a part of the 2017 LEED Homes Awards, an annual campaign honoring projects, architects, developers, and homebuilders who are leaders and innovators in the residential green building market.

LEED Homes Power Builders are an elite group of developers and builders that have exhibited an outstanding commitment to LEED and the green building movement within the residential sector. Forest City's standards for development and management reflect recommendations LEED has established for the real estate industry.

Green Lease Leaders
Forest City and 10 other companies earned Gold landlord recognitions as part of the Green Lease Leaders program, which recognizes innovative companies and real estate practitioners who manage high-performance buildings through energy efficiency and sustainability.

Forest City includes sustainability-related language in tenant leases as part of the company's holistic approach to managing environmental, social and governance issues.

ENERGY STAR Charter Tenant Space recognition
Forest City was one of nearly 50 organizations to be recognized as part of ENERGY STAR's Charter Tenant Space program, which was designed to strengthen landlord-tenant relationships and shared commitment to energy efficiency.

As a tenant at Key Tower in Cleveland, Ohio, Forest City participated in a 10-month pilot program with ENERGY STAR, documenting the design and build-out of its new headquarters space, and providing input that will be used to fine-tune the Tenant Space recognition program.
