Ford Motor Co. (F) said Wednesday its third-quarter U.S. total vehicle sales fell about 5%, with lower car and SUV sales.
The auto maker said U.S. sales in the quarter were 580,251, down 4.9% from the year-ago period.
Car sales fell 29.5% on year to 77,231, while SUV sales were down 10.5% to 193,100.
Truck sales rose 8.8% to 309,920. Van sales were up 21% in the third quarter on total sales of 65,288.
Average transaction pricing was $37,900 per vehicle at the end of September, a $2,200 increase from a year earlier.
Ford shares fell 2.5% to $8.68 in early trading.
