A line of severe thunderstorms with severe lightning, damaging winds and heavy rainfall moved through the region creating widespread damage and interrupting electric service to about 155,000 PECO customers. As these storms move out of the region, PECO crews will be working throughout the holiday weekend to restore service to all customers impacted by the storm.
PECO has activated its Emergency Response Organization and all available personnel are responding to restore service as safely and quickly as possible. The company also has enhanced staffing in place in the company’s call center, dispatch centers and in the field to respond to customer needs.
As of 9 p.m., Thursday, more than 118,000 customers remain without service. Specifically,
With storms continuing to move through the region and damage still occurring, it is too early to determine when service will be restored to all customers. PECO crews will continue to work around-the-clock to assess the damage and make repairs.
PECO urges customers to stay safe and always stay away from storm damaged electrical equipment, especially downed power lines and tree limbs that my come into contact with power lines. Customers should not enter basements that may be flooded due to excessive rain. Water at certain levels can be energized, damage indoor gas meters, and also extinguish natural gas pilots.
Customers experiencing any electric or natural gas issues should call the company at 1-800-841-4141. Customers also can report an outage at www.peco.com or by using PECO Smart Mobile On-the-Go, the company’s mobile enhanced website.
