PECO comes out on top in national survey

PECO has been named Best Employer in the Nation in the Midsize Utility category according to Forbes “America’s Best Employers 2016.” The ranking builds on PECO’s ongoing efforts to deliver innovation and provide a rewarding workplace for more than 2,400 Philadelphia-area workers.

“At PECO, we drive innovation and foster a culture of teamwork, so our employees can work more creatively to better serve our customers and communities,” said Craig Adams, PECO president and CEO. “Our ongoing commitment to engage and empower our employees has resulted in people who don’t just fill jobs, but build careers.”

The Forbes “America’s Best Employers 2016” list is compiled from anonymous rankings by more than 30,000 employees. Overall, PECO ranked No. 72 out of 250 midsize companies included, and ranked first among all midsize utilities.

PECO’s employees are dedicated to more than the company they work for, they are committed to the region where they live and work. In 2015, employees set a new company record, dedicating more time and energy to local nonprofit organizations than in any previous year. Last year, PECO employees logged nearly 15,000 volunteer hours at more than 150 local nonprofits.

Based in Philadelphia, PECO is an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation (NYSE: EXC). The company’s 2,400 dedicated employees provide advanced, innovative energy solutions to 1.6 million electric and more than 511,000 natural gas customers in southeastern Pennsylvania. In 2015 PECO delivered 86.9 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 38 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. The company also has an estimated annual economic impact of $4.5 billion in Pennsylvania, supporting more than 9,600 local jobs and producing $760 million in labor income. Founded in 1881, PECO is one of the Greater Philadelphia Region's most active corporate citizens, providing leadership, volunteer and financial support to numerous arts and culture, education, environmental, economic development and community programs and organizations.
