Accepting applications for student projects focusing on energy science, technology and education

Constellation today kicked off its 2014 E2 Energy to Educate Grants program. Since its inception in 2010, the program has provided nearly $1.5 million in funding for student projects that have enhanced the understanding of energy-related science and technology issues for an estimated 80,000 students.

Students in grades six through 12 can apply for program grants up to $25,000; students in two- and four-year colleges can apply for up to $50,000. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline for submissions is Oct. 1, 2014.

"We’re proud to support research and education programs that help prepare students for the energy opportunities that lie ahead and to build the science, math and technology skills they need to be successful in any career,” said Joseph Nigro, CEO of Constellation.

In 2013, the program awarded $310,000 and reached nearly 21,000 students nationwide. The student projects included developing demand response technologies, model electric vehicle competitions, renewable energy and energy efficiency analysis, and many other topics.

To qualify for an E2 grant, a project must be located in an area Constellation serves, be team-oriented and reach a minimum of 100 students.

To learn more about the program and application criteria, review the details online in the Community Outreach section of www.constellation.com.
