Enterasys Networks(R), the Secure Networks Company(TM),
today introduced Dragon(R) Network Defense, a major enhancement to its
award-winning Dragon Security Suite of intrusion detection and
prevention products. Dragon is an integral part of the company's
unique Secure Networks(TM) portfolio.
Dragon Network Defense enables users to more effectively detect,
isolate and remediate business-crippling network attacks. IT
professionals now have a single tool with which to identify and
respond to the broad array of internal and external threats. The
seamless integration of a security information manager (SIM) and
behavioral anomaly detection evolves Dragon Intrusion Defense into the
industry's most comprehensive suite of security tools.
"In today's business climate, the network is a business enabler
but network security can put up gates that act as a business
restrictor," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst of Enterprise Strategy
Group. "The number-one challenge is to implement network security in
an integrated architecture that protects the network and enables,
rather than disrupts, business activities. The Enterasys approach with
Dragon is unique. It is the only vendor I know of that has an
integrated network security suite for traffic analysis, event
monitoring, IDS/IPS, and policy enforcement. In this way, Enterasys
may be the industry's only one-stop network security shop."
Dragon Security Command Console
Dragon Security Command Console is a security information manager
that delivers the actionable intelligence and sophisticated reporting
necessary to protect complex enterprise infrastructures.
It aggregates and analyzes security information from a wide range
of devices, greatly reducing the resources required to effectively
manage a network. Dragon Security Command Console also provides
out-of-the-box reports that can span an entire enterprise or focus on
a single department and helps organizations comply with stringent
compliance regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
Dragon Network Defense is an enterprise-wide network security
management solution that combines multiple detection methodologies
into a single platform for unmatched visibility and control.
Integrated support for third-party security products, such as
antivirus and network scanning tools, enables Dragon Network Defense
to gather, correlate, normalize and prioritize security data from many
sources, greatly improving an enterprise's ability to respond to
emerging threats and effectively manage a complex environment.
Dragon Network Behavioral Anomaly Detection
Dragon Network Defense now includes advanced network behavioral
anomaly detection capabilities that greatly expand the number and type
of threats detected. Behavioral anomaly detection complements Dragon's
intrusion prevention and detection capabilities by tracking, analyzing
and recording every network flow. This increases network availability
and decreases costly downtime.
UMass Medical School, based in Worcester, Mass., recently chose to
deploy the entire Enterasys Dragon Security Suite along with
NetSight(R) Automated Security Manager to dynamically reconfigure the
network in response to threats.
"The addition of behavioral anomaly detection to the Dragon
Security Suite significantly enhances the value of the overall
solution," said Charles Desourdy, associate CIO at UMass Medical
School. "Combining the security information manager component with
Dragon Security Command Console enables us to obtain all of our
security and network information in a single, easy-to-use view. This
not only gives us insight into our security posture, but also into
other important areas, such as compliance reporting."
According to Leon Woo, Enterasys Networks executive vice president
of engineering and chief technology officer, these enhancements to the
Dragon Security Suite raise the bar for secure networking.
"Dragon has long been a leader in delivering powerful IDS and IPS
capabilities that enable organizations worldwide to protect their
networks and vital data from threats," said Woo. "Now we have taken
network security to an unprecedented level with Dragon Network
Defense. With the addition of SIM and behavioral anomaly capabilities,
Enterasys has extended its leadership by providing the most integrated
security suite in the industry today."
The Enterasys Secure Networks Advantage
Enterasys' industry-leading Secure Networks products and solutions
provide the industry's most comprehensive embedded infrastructure
security available today. Secure Networks delivers granular
policy-based security, providing visibility and control down to the
network device, individual user and application level, which enables
network managers to quickly and easily detect, assess, locate and
protect against attacks. This unmatched security comes from the
integrated policy-based management software architecture that works
with the embedded security capabilities Enterasys designs into its
entire product line. Enterasys' unique architectural approach offers
significant operational and business benefits, unmatched by vendors
that add hardware or software to multiple network access points in an
attempt to increase security. In fact, Secure Networks technology can
even make networks with competitors' equipment more secure.
