Progress Energy Florida Reduces Site Visits With Comverge
Solutions
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Comverge announced today that
Progress Energy Florida will install 6,000 Comverge Service
Reconnect/Disconnect Devices (SRD(TM)). Progress Energy Florida plans to
install these devices over the next 18 months.
Progress Energy Florida chose Comverge's SRD(TM) device because it easily
integrates into the company's existing backend systems, including the customer
service and load control software. Now, instead of sending an employee into an
uncertain environment, Progress Energy will be able to disconnect or reconnect
service with the touch of a button. The Comverge SRD(TM) can also communicate
on Progress Energy Florida's dedicated VHF paging frequency, greatly
simplifying program implementation.
"We are pleased to be working with Comverge to deploy the remote Service
Reconnect/Disconnect Devices in Florida. The technology is simple and
effective," said Alina Haines, director of Mobile Meter Reading for Progress
Energy Florida. "The SRD(TM) allows Progress Energy Florida to provide a safer
work environment for our employees and to improve customer service by
reconnecting customers faster."
"We are excited to be partners with Progress Energy Florida on this project.
The cost savings realizable through this implementation are quite substantial.
We believe that the business case for remote service management has been proven
here and will offer another example of success for the many utilities across
the country currently considering this option," said Ed Myszka, President and
Chief Operating Officer of Comverge's Solutions Group. "The solid business
relationship between Comverge and Progress Energy Florida is an excellent
example of Comverge's commitment to continually offering excellent service to
our customers, through quality, customer intimacy, and innovation."
