ENDESA (NYSE:ELE) has received the “power
company of the year” award at the eighth
edition of the Platts Global Energy Awards, one of the most prestigious
in the energy sector in the world. José Luis
Marín, general manager of Endesa Red,
represented ENDESA at the awards ceremony and gala dinner which took
place at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York with over 500 leading
executives from the world’s major companies in
attendance.
ENDESA was competing in the category of best power company of the year
with nine other leading European and North American companies. The jury
took into consideration the following aspects when choosing the winner:
financial results, technological innovation, customer service,
competition, strategic vision and risk management. Bruce Power, Duke
Power Company, Éléctricité
de France, Energy Corporation, Hydro One Network, NRG Energy Inc., NTPC
Limited, TXU Corporation and WPS Resources were the other finalists.
The Platts Global Energy Awards were inaugurated in 1999 and, since then
strive to recognise the leading companies in the industry in 17
categories. The winners are chosen from a list of 200 companies by a
jury comprising national regulators, senior executives from leading
energy companies and legislators.
Platts is a division of publishing group McGraw-Hill Companies and one
of the leading energy research and information companies in the world.
