On May 14th at midday, Endesa (NYSE:ELE) Chairman, Manuel Pizarro, and the mayors of Gibellina, Santa Ninfa and Salaparuta (all in the province of Trapani) inaugurated Endesa’s second wind farm in Sicily and the company’s sixth on Italian soil. During the ceremony, Manuel Pizarro –accompanied by Endesa’s CEO, Rafael Miranda, members of the Board of Directors, the Chairman and General Manager of Endesa Italia, Jesús Olmos and Joaquín Galindo, thanked the three local councils for their contribution to the wind farm’s installation and stated that cooperation in the countries where Endesa is present it vital to its future development plans. With its 38 turbines, the Gibellina, Santa Ninfa and Salaparuta wind farm has 32 MW of installed capacity and will produce nearly 75 GW/h a year, equivalent to the average consumption of approximately 18,000 families. This output will also mean saving the equivalent of 7,800 tonnes of oil a year and the subsequent saving of some 50,000 tonnes of C02 emissions. During the inaugural act, Endesa Italia’s General Manager underlined the importance of the investments the company has made on Italian soil since 2001 when Endesa first entered the Italian market. Since then Endesa has invested over Euro 3.4 billion added to which are the Euro 1.5 billion earmarked for 2007-2011. He also stressed Endesa’s efforts concerning the environment (all the Company’s installations in Italy are EMAS certified) and in particular the development of renewable energy sources including hydro, biomass and wind power. In 2008 Endesa will have close to 350 MW of installed wind capacity in Italy. * This document may contain certain forward-looking statements regarding anticipated financial and operating results and statistics that are subject to risks and uncertainties as well as to material risks, changes and other factors which may be difficult to predict, including, without limitation, those factors described in the Documento de Registro de Acciones of Endesa filed within the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores and in the Form 20-F of Endesa filed within the Securities and Exchange Commission, both for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2004.
