Among the companies with shares expected to trade actively in Wednesday's session are Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) and Joy Global Inc. (JOY).
Goldman Sachs will elevate David Solomon and Harvey Schwartz to serve as top lieutenants to Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein, filling a void left by No. 2 executive Gary Cohn, who is leaving the bank to join the Trump administration. Shares fell 0.65% to $237 in premarket trading.
Joy Global, which recently agreed to be acquired by Japan's Komatsu Ltd., said its fiscal fourth-quarter revenue plunged 24%, missing analyst expectations, as bookings fell 9%. Joy Global shares rose 0.29% to $28.13 premarket.
Callon Petroleum Co. (CPE) has agreed to buy roughly 16,000 acres in the Permian Basin in a $615 million cash deal. To help pay for the deal, Callon is selling up to 39.1 million more shares. Shares fell 4.66% to $16.59 premarket.
Hertz Global Holdings Inc.'s (HTZ) Chief Executive John Tague will retire and the company's three longest-serving board members will step down, a month after disappointing quarterly earnings drew renewed interest from activist investor Carl Icahn. Shares fell 1.31%to $24.80 premarket.
Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) ended buyout talks for Swiss drug company Actelion Pharmaceuticals Ltd. after the price got too high, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Industrial-machinery company Nordson Corp. (NDSN) posted better-than-expected results for its fiscal fourth quarter, boosted by a 32% climb in sales for its advanced technology systems segment.
Tailored Brands Inc. (TLRD), the former Men's Wearhouse, has hired Gap Inc. veteran Jack Calandra as chief financial officer and treasurer, the men's suit maker said.
William Ackman's Pershing Square Capital Management LP has cut further its stake in Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (VRX) to help generate a tax loss for investors.
