International stocks trading in New York closed mostly higher on Thursday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts rose 0.2% to 141.43. the Asian index improved 0.7% to 162.63 and the emerging markets index increased 0.5% to 304.72.
Meanwhile, the European index fell 0.02% to 132 and the Latin American index fell 0.3% to 245.73.
BT Group PLC (BT) and retailer Companhia Brasileira de Distribuição (CBD), also known as GPA, were among companies with ADRs that traded actively.
ADRs of BT Group fell 0.4% to $12.69 after French telecommunications company Orange said it plans to exit its stake in the company. Orange said it plans to sell about 248 million shares in BT, a roughly 2.5% stake in the firm. BT plans to buy back up to 80 million pounds worth of those shares.
ADRs of GPA rose 11% to $24.35 after the company said Thursday that it sent a preliminary offer to takeover Colombia's Almacenes Éxito SA. The move would call for Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA tendering its roughly 55% stake in Exito.
