Kevin Royal Named Bridgepoint Education's Chief Financial Officer

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, the Board of Directors at Bridgepoint Education, Inc. (NYSE: BPI) announced the hiring of Kevin Royal as the company's new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective Oct. 1, 2015. Former Chief Financial Officer Dan Devine will remain with the organization through 2015 to assist with the transition.

Most recently, Royal served as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary for Maxwell Technologies Inc., where he spent the past six years. During his tenure, Maxwell Technologies, Inc. grew from an annual run rate of $100 million to $200 million. From 2005 until 2009, Royal served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Blue Coat Systems, Inc., a previously Nasdaq-listed developer and provider of application delivery network technology, where he successfully acquired and integrated three companies. From 1996 until 2005, he held a series of senior finance positions, culminating with his appointment as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Novellus Systems, Inc., an S&P 500 company that manufactures, markets, and services semiconductor capital equipment.

While at Novellus, Royal successfully acquired and integrated four companies with revenues ranging from $100 million to $250 million. Before he joined Novellus, he spent 10 years with Ernst & Young LLP, where he became a certified public accountant. Royal holds a BBA in Accounting from Harding University.
