The vision was bold. The reality could be -- bolder!
Saturday, April 28, 2007 marks the official grand opening of the very
first community within the City of Ontario’s
visionary New Model Colony, expected to ultimately encompass 8,200 acres
and offer a diversity of 30,000 homes, several million square feet of
retail and commercial uses (including offices and industrial/business
parks as well as two major power retail centers), a bounty of
recreational and sports facilities, schools, a large village green, a
public library, and miles of local and regional trails.
Noted as being one of the largest infill developments west of the
Mississippi, the New Model Colony will soon welcome its first community
-- Edenglen. Slated to hold its grand opening on Saturday, April 28,
2007, Edenglen is part of the very first development phase within the
New Model Colony.
“The New Model Colony is envisioned as an
exciting environment that will be close to our job base, allowing
residents to live, work and play in a vibrant, hub of activity,”
said Ontario Mayor Paul S. Leon. “Edenglen
represents the reality of this vision and sets a benchmark for creating
new landmark neighborhoods in Ontario.”
Thoughtfully planned and architecturally designed to reflect the City of
Ontario’s historic Euclid Avenue downtown
area, Edenglen occupies 61 acres along the south side of Riverside
Drive, east of Mill Creek Avenue, north of the future extension of Chino
Avenue, and west of an interconnecting trail system planned for Edenglen
which parallels Milliken Avenue.
Edenglen is planned with a total of 542 homes built by the two of
southern California’s finest homebuilders,
Brookfield Homes (NYSE:BHS) and Standard Pacific Homes. The community is
grouped into five neighborhoods of garden court condominiums,
classically designed townhomes and single-family and executive style
residences architecturally styled in Traditional, Spanish Colonial,
Bungalow, Territorial Ranch, Monterey, Spanish, and Cottage designs.
Tree-lined sidewalks, tapered streets, a lush median with signature
cedar and other heritage trees will create a sense of permanence from
the day the community opens.
Situated in the heart of Edenglen is the namesake Pinheiro Park,
complete with a central park and clubhouse, swimming pool, outdoor
amphitheatre, playgrounds and tot lots, half basketball courts, outdoor
dining areas, walking trails, and more.
The Clubhouse, with its wraparound porch overlooking Pinheiro Park, will
be another popular destination, offering a media lounge, game room, and
multipurpose room. Photovoltaic panels will allow solar power to heat
and cool the clubhouse and pool cabana. Also included in the community
will be several neighborhood pocket parks, including a Bark Park for the
four legged friends, as well as several pocket parks and a number of
wi-fi hotspots.
“It’s truly an
honor to be the inaugural community for the City’s
incredible vision,” said Brookfield President
Adrian Foley. “As the first community within
Ontario’s New Model Colony, Edenglen will
offer its residents a lifestyle that is fresh and unlike anything the
City has every seen -- while also reflecting the great architecture,
history and traditions of this 21st century
city. Edenglen will provide residents the opportunity to be part of the
founding families that will change the face of Ontario over the next
decades. And, with its location in a city where employment opportunities
have grown at an expediential rate over the past few years, Edenglen
will provide housing options for those people who are employed here yet
currently live elsewhere. And, overtime, Edenglen will become a great
place to call home for people who have the vision and desire to be a
part of something much bigger and bolder –
the New Model Colony.”
The grand opening of Edenglen, which includes the unveiling of 12 model
homes and Pinheiro Park, is slated to commence at 10 a.m. and continue
to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Home shoppers are invited to
preview the five new neighborhoods with anticipated pricing from the low
$300,000s to the mid $700,000s. To learn more about Edenglen, visit www.edenglen.com.
