Norway's Statoil ASA (STO) has awarded Baker Hughes Inc. (BHI) a 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner ($186.9 million) deal to provide integrated drilling services for the Johan Sverdrup field, the latest in a string of contracts Statoil is awarding ahead of next year's drilling start-up on the giant North Sea field.
The contract is valid for six years and includes an option for a further four years.
Statoil has been inviting tenders for integrated services on the Johan Sverdrup field in order to reduce total well costs and achieve more efficient well services, it said.
