James Thompson Appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer of Avon Products, Inc.

LONDON, May 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Avon Products, Inc. (NYSE: AVP) today announced the appointment of James Thompson as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, effective August 1, 2017. James will report directly to Avon's Chief Executive Officer Sheri McCoy, and will be based at Avon's headquarters in London, UK. 

James previously served as the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary to Chiquita Brands International, Inc. for nine years. He is an experienced General Counsel with significant global experience including handling a range of highly complex operational, governance, regulatory and transactional matters. Prior to Chiquita, James served as the Group Vice President and General Counsel to McLeodUSA, a publicly-traded telecommunications company and as Director, International Legal to Alticor, the parent company of Amway, a global direct selling company. His earlier experience includes significant domestic US and international antitrust and corporate work at the law firm Jones Day in Washington DC and Brussels.

James will succeed Jeff Benjamin, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer, who as previously announced, will be retiring from Avon.
