Shareholders of Marathon Petroleum Corp. (MPC) and Andeavor (ANDV) Monday approved the deal for Marathon to acquire Andeavor.
At special meetings, Marathon shareholders approved a share issuance in conncection with the deal, while Andeavor shareholders approved the merger plan.
Marathon shareholders didn't approve the company's proposal to increase the size of its board by two members.
Marathon Petroleum in April agreed to buy pipeline and refining company Andeavor for $23.3 billion.
Shares of Marathon Petroleum were up 3.2% at $86.04, while Andeavor was up 3.1% at $159.46.
