DALLAS, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Behringer Harvard, a Dallas-based real estate investment company, announced today the addition of Robert J. Chapman as executive vice president and co-chief operating officer. Chapman will share general corporate responsibilities with Robert S. Aisner, Behringer Harvard's president and current chief operating officer. In addition, he will oversee the company's investment banking relationships and will be actively involved in new corporate initiatives, capital markets, and special operational and strategic projects. In this role, Chapman directed the company's capital markets, investor relations, accounting, treasury, tax, and internal audit functions. Prior to its acquisition by an institutional investment fund in February 2006, AMLI Residential was one of the largest owners and operators of upscale apartment properties in the United States. Throughout his career, Chapman has worked with notable institutional real estate investment managers. Prior to joining AMLI, Chapman was managing director of Heitman Capital Management Corporation (1994-97), one of the largest institutional real estate investment managers in the United States. He was the managing director and chief financial officer of JMB Institutional Realty Corporation (1994) and managing director and chief financial officer of JMB Realty Corporation (1976-94). Throughout the early '90s, JMB Realty Corporation was one of the nation's largest private real estate companies primarily engaged in the sponsorship of real estate investment funds for individual and institutional investors. Chapman was also associated with KPMG LLP (1972-76). Active in the real estate community, Chapman has been a member of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, the Mortgage Bankers Association, the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, the National Multi Housing Council, Pension Real Estate Association, the Real Estate Investment Advisory Council, the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Illinois CPA Society. He is a current member of the Advisory Board of the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate of the University of Wisconsin and has been a member of the Advisory Board to the University of Cincinnati's real estate program, as well as a founding member of the Board of the National Association of Real Estate Companies. In addition, he has served as a member of the board of directors and chairman of the audit committee of Behringer Harvard Opportunity REIT I, Inc. He also has been a FINRA (formerly NASD) registered representative and is an adjunct professor of real estate finance at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Chapman holds a BBA degree in accounting and a MBA in finance from the University of Cincinnati and is a certified public accountant.
