The key to the successful creation of a new technology sector investment banking group by M&A specialists Berkery, Noyes & Co., LLC was the clearly defined, mission-critical skills the company articulated at the outset, according to Danny Gonzalez, Partner, Cornell International. Cornell, the executive search division of Adecco, the world's largest staffing company, recently helped Berkery, Noyes find three new managing directors to launch and manage its global IT/software/services practice. The firm recently announced the appointments of Shawn Miele and James Holzer, both of whom have extensive and diverse technology and software industry M&A experience, and David Yockelson, a veteran technology industry research specialist. When he made the announcement, Joseph W. Berkery, president of Berkery, Noyes, said: "The combined transaction experience, industry contacts, business acumen and strategic foresight that these three possess will be invaluable to our technology and software clients as the firm extends its reach in these segments. It's not enough to be transaction leaders in the information industry; we intend to be its thought leaders, as well." Gonzalez headed up the effort and says that management's "detailed and focused description of the mission, goals and executive talent requirements of Berkery, Noyes allowed us to narrow the scope of our search. Thus, we were able to concentrate on candidates who have the experience and street smarts to achieve the firm's goal of assuming a position of leadership in the sector. "Too often, executive search clients find it difficult to provide a clear vision for the positions they are seeking to fill. Job descriptions are not enough. It is more important to focus on the objectives of the job and the mission-critical skills that are needed to achieve the company's goals," said Gonzalez. About Cornell International Cornell International is the executive search division of Adecco (NYSE: ADO), the world's largest staffing company. Cornell is the only retained executive search firm with a fully integrated set of recruiting solutions in middle-management, leadership and consulting.
