"Bruce's expertise in the legal and technology fields is highly valued," says Jay Coughlan, chairman and chief executive officer, Xata. "He is an incredibly strong addition to Xata's executive team as we continue to deliver industry-leading mobile compliance and fleet management software solutions to our customers."
McPheeters will join Xata's executive team alongside Coughlan; Steve Chamberlain, executive vice president, field operations; Scott Meyer, chief marketing & strategy officer; and Odell Tuttle, chief technology officer.
Prior to joining Lawson Software, Inc., McPheeters was in private law practice for 18 years, focusing on software, securities, and mergers and acquisitions, most recently as a principal at the Gray Plant Mooty Law Firm in Minneapolis, where he also served on the firm's board of directors.
McPheeters received an engineering degree, with distinction, from Iowa State University and a law degree from the University of Southern California Law School, where he was a member and editor of Southern California Law Review.
McPheeters' predecessor, Wes Fredenburg, served as Xata's general counsel for four years and left the company June 1. "Wes left Xata on excellent terms after he was presented with an opportunity he couldn't pass up in an area he is extremely passionate about: international markets," Coughlan says. "We are happy for Wes and thank him for his years of service to Xata."
