Whittier Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:WHIT) was named the
fastest growing company in the Oil and Gas Financial Journal survey
for the fourth quarter of 2005. The results of the rankings were
published in the May 2006 issue. The list of fastest growing companies
was determined by growth of stockholder equity. Whittier Energy's
stockholder equity increased 408% from $11.9 million in the fourth
quarter of 2004 to $60.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2005. In
addition, net income increased 117%. Only companies that reported
positive net income for the fourth quarter of 2005 and 2004 and
increased earnings in the most recent quarter versus the earlier
quarter were included in the rankings. Additionally, the Company ranks
number 77 in total assets among the Oil and Gas Financial Journal's
list of 200 public Exploration & Production companies.
