A first in the industry, the compact modular power solution
provides plug-and-play installation, time and labor savings,
and optimal assembly plant flexibility.
Woodhead Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:WDHD) today introduced its
BradPower Power Distribution System for assembly line tooling.
Developed specifically for automotive OEMs and their suppliers, the
new system is a first in the industry and represents a major
breakthrough in the design of modular power delivery systems for
complex, high-performance assembly lines.
According to Kevin Gallagher, Product Marketing Manager, Woodhead
Power Systems, "Our new BradPower System gives the automotive industry
its first completely plug-and-play solution for reliable power
distribution along the assembly line. The power distribution box is
compact and easy to install, providing over 90 percent installation
time and labor savings as well as lower day-to-day maintenance
costs--making it the most cost-effective assembly line power system on
the market today."
Because the BradPower system is completely modular, once a
licensed electrician connects the power source, connecting the box to
individual power tool workstations can be performed by electrical
contractors or trained technicians in a matter of seconds, rather than
the increased time required with other power distribution methods.
This dramatically reduces installation and maintenance time and costs,
and lowers total cost of ownership (TCO). In addition, the system's
flexibility allows the assembly line layout to be reconfigured quickly
and easily, reusing the BradPower components, to accommodate
production changes.
In Woodhead's new BradPower System, a compact (10-in wide by 12-in
high) power distribution box feeds power directly to assembly line
tools via six to ten BradPower cord sets. The system can deliver up to
ten branches of 30-amp power across any selected span of the assembly
line, and offers the flexibility to deliver up to 600V through a
variety of different configurations.
The BradPower Power Distribution System for assembly line tooling
is available in three- or four-pole configurations. Single and dual
keyway options allow users to separate different types or voltages of
power. Each cord set power access point is equipped with a neon LED to
indicate the presence of both power and proper grounding, thus
eliminating the need to periodically test outlets for proper
grounding, as mandated by OSHA.
