Verilink Receives Product of the Year Award From Internet
Telephony Magazine
The 8000 Series recognized as the Best Access Product for Voice Over IP
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Verilink Corporation
(NASDAQ:VRLK), a leading provider of broadband access solutions, today
announced that INTERNET TELEPHONY(R) magazine has selected Verilink's 8000
Series Integrated Access Device (IAD) as a recipient of a Product of the Year
Award for 2004.
"Each year INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards
following a detailed selection process, recognizing companies that have
demonstrated excellence in technological advancement, and are introducing
products we believe will make a strong impact in the market," said Rich
Tehrani, Group Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY. "We
selected Verilink's 8000 Series IAD for this award because of its advanced,
software-driven ability to migrate customers from their existing TDM-based
networks to Voice over IP (VoIP). Additionally, its comprehensive MGCP/SIP
interoperability support with leading industry gateways and soft-switches puts
the 8000 Series ahead of other products in this category."
"We are honored to have our 8000 Series recognized by INTERNET TELEPHONY(R)
magazine for this prestigious award," said Sab Gosal, Vice President of
Marketing for Verilink. "Verilink is committed to providing products that
translate directly into business and economic benefits for our customers. The
8000 Series IADs is a fully interoperable VoIP access device with an advanced
SNMP-based management interface that provides one-touch provisioning and
automates the configuration, monitoring and trouble-shooting of services. With
its ability to remotely software migrate customers from their existing services
to VoIP, the 8000 Series reduces network costs by as much as 45% compared to
conventional industry solutions. These benefits are demonstrated by the 55
active customers and MGCP and SIP-based trials we have currently underway."
Verilink's 8000 Series IADs provide all of the advanced features and functions
that carriers need to deliver toll-quality voice and business-class data
services. Operating as intelligent customer-located equipment, the 8000 Series
supports Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) and Media Gateway Control Protocol
(MGCP) and provides a built-in migration path from traditional telephony, Time
Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), to Internet
Protocol (IP). This migration path allows carriers and enterprises to maximize
their existing network investments while having an on-ramp to more
cost-efficient, scalable packet networks.
The 8000 Series is a flexible product set based on a true plug-and-play
architecture, plugging directly into existing analog phones, PBX and Key
Systems, and supporting a wide range of Wide Area Network (WAN) interfaces,
including T1, E1, ADSL, SDSL, and SHDSL. The remote management functionality
allows services to be configured, provisioned and managed without truck rolls,
saving up to five times the operational cost of traditional operations.
The Product of the Year Award winners for 2004 are published in the January
2005 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
