Verilink Launches the NetPath 2000 Wireless Access Device for
Delivery of High-Speed Data Services Over Cellular Networks
Next-Gen Wireless Access Platform Provides Secure, Flexible, Cost-Effective and
Reliable Data Services Utilizing UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS Wireless Technologies
CHICAGO, SUPERCOMM 2005, June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Verilink Corporation
(NASDAQ:VRLK), a leading provider of broadband access solutions, today
introduced the NetPath(TM) 2000 Wireless Access Router -- a solution for
high-speed IP connectivity over UMTS, Edge, or GPRS cellular networks. At the
largest telecommunications industry trade show in North America, Supercomm
2005, visitors at Verilink's booth #43025 will see the NetPath 2000, Verilink's
new solution for wireless broadband access. The NetPath 2000 provides seamless
and secure broadband access connections and back-up redundancies for the
transmission of mission-critical data over a secure and reliable cellular
network.
Verilink's NetPath 2000 is a wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) router with
support for high-speed cellular technologies enabling cellular carriers to
provide a point-to-point broadband connection to business customers, thus
allowing for the deployment of a diverse, cost-efficient and reliable solution
for primary data access and fail-over applications. With the NetPath 2000,
cellular carriers can offer business-class broadband services over their secure
wireless WAN, offering their customers quality wireless broadband connectivity
in diverse service locations as an alternative to terrestrial wireline
services, while embarking on a new revenue-generating service opportunity.
"By offering the NetPath 2000 as an adjunct to an installed base of corporate
routers, Verilink has strategically positioned itself to address the
accelerating wireless broadband market," said Wayne Shackelford, Senior Vice
President of Worldwide Sales and Services for Verilink. "Verilink's trusted
distributors have built a deep network of resellers who target enterprise
customers that can benefit from the logical alternative to dial-up and ISDN to
a connected environment based on cellular or wireless technology."
"With the expansion of cellular wireless data networks both here in the United
States and abroad, in addition to the introduction of high-speed wireless data
technologies such as UMTS, the utilization of cellular-based wireless access
devices for high-speed broadband connectivity has become a practical solution
for remote and mobile business customers," said Allen Nogee, Principal Analyst
with In-Stat. "Today's wireless WAN technology, in combination with a wireless
VPN solution like the NetPath 2000, offers cellular carriers an opportunity to
address the growing broadband access market by offering fast and dependable
data access over a secure cellular network connection. Mission critical
business applications, such as retail, remote office or mobile point-of-sale,
will benefit by having a flexible, cost-effective alternative to wireline
services."
Businesses are becoming increasingly dependent on real-time data transfers of
critical information, helping them to achieve process efficiencies in inventory
management and variety of critical business functions. As a result, the data
and its method of transport must be secure and available at all times. One way
to ensure the integrity of the data and its delivery is through the use of
intelligent devices capable of transporting data at high rates of speed with
secure and faultless connections. The implementation of Verilink's NetPath 2000
wireless access router creates an alternate secure path for the transport of
data with minimal time, budget and technology investments, and is perfectly
suited for applications such as retail/kiosks, mobile point-of-sale (POS)
devices, wireline service redundancy and fail-over solutions and a range of
greenfield network applications.
