Verigy (NASDAQ:VRGY), a premier semiconductor test company, has joined
the HyperTransport™ Technology Consortium, the
nonprofit industry organization that manages the HyperTransport
technology specification. Verigy’s
participation in the HyperTransport Consortium will ensure the company’s
semiconductor test solutions continue to support the latest developments
in the popular interface format.
Today, new computation and communication devices use high-speed
interfaces operating at 5 Gigabits per second (Gbps) and beyond.
HyperTransport 3.0 extends the dual data rate (DDR) maximum clock to 2.6
GHz, and delivers a maximum aggregate bandwidth of 41.6 Gbps. The
HyperTransport 3.0 interface standard is being widely adopted. Many
manufacturers, including Verigy customers, have begun to successfully
characterize devices using the HyperTransport 3.0 standard, with volume
production expected later this year.
Devices with next-generation interfaces, such as HyperTransport, require
thorough at-speed design characterization and production test. The
Verigy Pin Scale HX high-speed card for the V93000 SOC Series tester,
the first solution in the industry to support data rates up to 12.8
Gbps, provides the uncompromised signal integrity required for
high-quality testing of these devices. The Verigy Pin Scale HX is in use
today for testing by leading suppliers of HyperTransport technology,
including microprocessor, graphics and chipset manufacturers.
“HyperTransport interface technology pushes
the boundaries of high-speed device-to-device interfaces, creating new
testing challenges for our customers,” said
Keith Barnes, chief executive officer and president, Verigy. “Our
participation in the Consortium began while we were still part of
Agilent so this is a natural continuation of our involvement and
reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the industry’s
need for advanced test solutions.”
“We welcome Verigy as a Contributor member to
the HyperTransport Consortium and expect that their involvement will
bring a crucial perspective on testing requirements for devices using
HyperTransport interface technology,” said
Mario Cavalli, general manager, HyperTransport Consortium. “By
joining at this level, Verigy endorses the strategic business value that
HyperTransport technology provides, and solidifies their role in
influencing the future direction of the HyperTransport specification.”
