Valley Bancorp (Nasdaq: VLLY), the holding company for
Valley Bank, was named to Sandler O'Neill & Partners' Bank and Thrift
"SM-All Stars Class of 2005."
Sandler O'Neill & Partners reviewed the performance of the 573
publicly traded banks and thrifts with market capitalization under $2
billion. The SM-All Stars is an elite class of the top performing
small cap banks that have out-performed its peers in profitability,
growth, credit quality, and capital strength. Companies were evaluated
based on absolute performance in each of eight financial variables
including EPS growth, loan growth, deposit capital ratio, return on
average equity, nonperforming assets ratios, net charge-off ratio, and
Tier 1 capital ratio. To earn SM-All Star status, the banks needed to
be at or above the peer median for each metric and be considered "Well
Capitalized" per the Tier 1 ratio. Valley Bancorp was one of only 38
companies to be included in this year's list.
"We look forward to continuing our performance and maintaining our
position on this important list in future years," said Barry L. Hulin,
CEO and president of Valley Bancorp.
