US Airways and Bahamasair Kick Off Codeshare Relationship
ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways and Bahamasair
customers now can enjoy increased service between the East Coast and the
Islands of the Bahamas through a new codeshare agreement.
US Airways' and Bahamasair's agreement encompasses Dividend Miles accrual and
redemption on all Bahamasair flights as well as codesharing on daily flights
between the U.S. and the Bahamas, as well as intra-Bahamian flights. US Airways
customers now have new access to Governors Harbour, George Town and Treasure
Cay, as well as additional flights to North Eleuthera, Marsh Harbour, and Grand
Bahama Island, all via connections in Nassau.
Bahamasair customers will have new access to U.S. gateways, including
Charlotte, N.C., New York's LaGuardia Airport and Philadelphia from both Grand
Bahama Island and Nassau, as well as Boston and Ronald Reagan Washington
National Airport from Nassau. Bahamasair customers also will have single-
ticket connections to US Airways' nearly 200 destinations.
Codeshare flights are available for purchase immediately, for travel and
Dividend Miles benefits beginning Sept. 15, 2004.
"This relationship with Bahamasair is a valuable and logical extension of our
expansion in the Caribbean," said N. Bruce Ashby, US Airways senior vice
president of alliances. "With five gateways to Nassau and three to Grand
Bahama Island, our customers have every reason -- including convenience and
mileage earning opportunities -- to visit the Out-Islands of the Bahamas."
"Bahamasair is pleased to partner with US Airways in this codeshare agreement,
which extends Bahamasair's reach from a number of Northern cities in America to
the quaint and peaceful Out-Islands of The Bahamas," said Van Diah, Chief
Commercial Officer, of Bahamasair. "This agreement complements Bahamasair's
objective of transporting tourists into and around The Bahamas while providing
airlift to the Bahamian passengers traveling into North America."
