US Airways Rolls Out More GoFares
Philadelphia-San Diego Next Up for New Low Ticket Prices
ARLINGTON, Va., June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways today unveiled
its fifteenth GoFare market, introducing new simplified fares between
Philadelphia and San Diego, available immediately.
US Airways' Philadelphia-San Diego GoFares start at as low as $94* each way in
Coach Class. The one-way First Class fare is $699* each way and the new
GoFirst fare is $698* roundtrip, with a seven day advance purchase and
one-night minimum stay. Coach Class GoFares are never more than $499* each way
on this route. The previous walkup fare on this route was $1286** each way.
"As we have said, GoFares will continue to appear throughout our system, and
the introduction of low, simplified fares on an attractive transcontinental
route like Philadelphia-San Diego underscores our commitment to changing the
way we do business," said B. Ben Baldanza, US Airways senior vice president of
marketing and planning.
US Airways introduced the first phase of its GoFares in Philadelphia on April
29, 2004, making them available on 13 routes. In addition to San Diego, US
Airways now offers GoFares between Philadelphia and Boston (introduced May 13),
Chicago (O'Hare), Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix,
Providence, R.I., and Tampa, Fla. US Airways also announced GoFares between
Philadelphia and Houston, Los Angeles, Manchester, N.H., New Orleans, Raleigh-
Durham, N.C., and West Palm Beach, Fla., for travel beginning July 6, 2004.
GoFares range from $29 - $499* each way, with no Coach fare ever more than
$499*, and there is no Saturday-night stay requirement.
In addition to low fares, customers flying US Airways enjoy:
-- Advance seat assignments
-- Pre-boarding for Preferred Dividend Miles members
-- A First Class cabin with the ability to upgrade from Coach Class
-- In-flight Cafe on select flights
-- Ability to earn frequent flier miles for travel to and from more than
700 worldwide destinations through US Airways' participation in the
Star Alliance.
* US Airways' GoFares are simple, however, in addition to the fare, the federal
government requires that the company collect a tax of $3.10 every time a
customer takes off on one of US Airways' planes, plus $2.50 per segment, up to
$10 per trip (the September 11th Security Fee). Some of the airports that
customers might visit also charge up to $4.50 for passing through, but the
total is capped at $18 per trip. The lowest fares must be purchased seven, 14
or 21 days in advance and are nonrefundable.
** Highest walkup fare charged before the implementation of GoFares.
At Philadelphia, US Airways and US Airways Express operate 392 daily nonstop
departures, and at San Diego, US Airways operates three nonstop roundtrip
flights each day to Philadelphia as well as daily nonstop service to Charlotte,
N.C., and twice-daily nonstop service to Pittsburgh.
US Airways has many other airline partners, and a part of a GoFare or any other

for travel on the US Airways Express carriers Allegheny, Air Midwest,
Chautauqua, Colgan, Mesa, MidAtlantic Airways, Piedmont, PSA, Shuttle America
or Trans States. A flight also might be operated by our Star Alliance partner
