Traffic.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRFC), the leading provider of
personalized traffic information for drivers coast to coast, today
announced an agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT) that provides for the development of a new Advanced Traveler
Information System (ATIS) for Southwest Florida, to deliver enhanced,
customizable traffic information for commuters and travelers.
Through this $2 million agreement, Traffic.com will deploy a
roadside network of digital traffic sensors along I-75 in Southwest
Florida that will enable FDOT to use both real-time and archived
traffic data to deliver valuable services to drivers via the Florida
511 System. Traffic.com will collect and process real-time,
comprehensive traffic data in Charlotte, Lee, and Collier counties
(including Fort Myers and Naples), and provide that data to FDOT
District One (done to be consistent with title below) and the public.
This vital traffic information includes incident and accident reports,
vehicle speeds, congestion levels, and travel times.
"We're very pleased to be partnering with Traffic.com," said Stan
Cann, District One Secretary for the Florida Department of
Transportation. "With our agreement to develop an Advanced Traveler
Information System, we're improving the traveling and commuting
experience in Southwest Florida. This technology collects and delivers
accurate, real-time traffic data and allows people to make better
informed travel decisions and prepare for traffic and road conditions
ahead."
"This competitively-awarded agreement with the Florida Department
of Transportation is an expansion of our business model and can serve
as an example for other state and local agencies," said David L.
Jannetta, president, Traffic.com. "Government agencies across the
country can take advantage of state-of-the-art technology and
real-time traffic data collection to provide better, more efficient
traffic services to the public - without having to obtain Federal
legislation."

agencies across the nation. By using the private sector's proven
technology and traffic-gathering resources to implement a low-cost,
"off-the-shelf" turnkey system, agencies and taxpayers stand to save
