Intrado Inc. (Nasdaq:TRDO), a global provider of
integrated data and telecommunications solutions, today announced that
it has secured agreements with the major local exchange carriers
(LECs) to interconnect with their 9-1-1 selective routers and to steer
dynamic location information into their regional E9-1-1 automatic
location information (ALI) databases in the event of a VoIP 9-1-1
call. VoIP Service Providers (VSPs) will now be able to deliver E9-1-1
calls originating on their IP network natively from virtually anywhere
in the country. VSPs have been mandated by the FCC to provide E9-1-1
service to their VoIP customers. Intrado(R) V9-1-1(SM) Mobility
Service provides VSPs with an FCC compliant solution.
These interconnection agreements, combined with existing access
and steering agreements and Intrado's ability to provide valid 9-1-1
address information, represent a key milestone by making Intrado the
first to deliver all of the elements essential to comprehensive VoIP
E9-1-1 coverage.
Anticipating the need for 9-1-1 support for VoIP calls, Intrado
drew upon its extensive 9-1-1 background to develop a solution that
addresses essential issues of coverage and efficacy. The
interconnection agreements allow Intrado to deliver a VoIP 9-1-1 call
directly into the LEC's 9-1-1 selective router and gain access to the
dedicated 9-1-1 network. The ALI steering agreements allow the 9-1-1
call takers to receive the caller's location information at the time
of a 9-1-1 call. Most importantly, these named agreements allow
Intrado's VSP customers and their subscribers to gain full benefit
from the V9-1-1 Mobility Service's ability to provide caller location
information to the call taker in the Master Street Address Guide
(MSAG) valid format required for effective emergency dispatch. The
delivery of location information to the PSAP in an MSAG valid format
ensures integration and accurate emergency response. Intrado is
currently the only third party provider to offer this critical
component, which is required for an effective VoIP E9-1-1 solution.
"Comprehensive E9-1-1 coverage for VoIP consists of
interconnection agreements, ALI steering agreements, and the ability
to provide caller location information to the 9-1-1 call taker in an
MSAG valid format," said Stephen Meer, Intrado chief technology
officer and co-founder. "The Intrado VoIP 9-1-1 solution addresses all
three points with one provider."
