Teleglobe International Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:TLGB): -- Successful Pilot Leads to Commercial Global IPv6 Service With SLA Currently Serving over 20 Customers in Asia, Europe and North America -- Adds Interconnection to IPv6 Internet Exchange in New York City (NY6IX) For Native IPv6 Traffic Exchange Teleglobe International Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:TLGB) today announced the general availability of its global IPv6 (Internet protocol version 6) transit service with service level agreement (SLA), which currently serves over 20 major Internet service providers (ISPs) and content providers in 15 countries including Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Senegal and Spain. Through multiple IPv6 peering agreements in North America and Europe, Teleglobe customers are now commercially exchanging IPv6 traffic over the company's global network. Teleglobe owns and operates one of the most extensive global telecommunications networks, and is a leading provider of IP transit to carriers and ISPs around the world. IPv6 is the next generation Internet protocol which is in the early stages of supplementing and someday replacing the original and currently dominant protocol for the Internet, IPv4 (Internet protocol version 4). After a successful pilot service this past year, involving ten customers on four continents and transmission over both cable and satellite, Teleglobe is now offering commercial, generally available IPv6 global transit service with SLA. Teleglobe offer IPv6 transit to ISPs and content providers worldwide via a selection of interfaces including IPv6/IPv4 dual-stack, IPv6 tunneling over IPv4, IPv6 tunnel broker and native IPv6. Over the past few months, Teleglobe has established multiple IPv6 peering agreements in North America and Europe, including the most recent agreement with NY6IX in New York City. Customers connected to the New York IPv6 Exchange (NY6IX) will be able to connect to Teleglobe for native IPv6 traffic exchange. Other major IPv6 peering sites include AMS-IX in Amsterdam, SFINX in Paris, ESPANIX in Madrid, EQUI6IX in Ashburn (Virginia), San Jose (California), and HKIX in Hong Kong. "The introduction of commercial IPv6 transit by a tier 1 global carrier is a major contribution to the acceleration of IPv6 adoption worldwide and the realization of associated new service revenue opportunities," said Latif Ladid, President of the Global IPv6 Forum. "This general availability for IPv6 reflects the transition from research and education exercise to commercial value, from pilot operation to business operation," said Yves Poppe, Director IP Strategy at Teleglobe. "This will help usher a new growth phase in the Internet in an increasingly mobile world with ever more versatile multimedia end-user devices." Teleglobe has upgraded access routers to dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 in Hong Kong, Los Angeles, San Jose, Miami, Ashburn, Newark (New Jersey), New York, Toronto, Montreal, Madrid, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Oslo, Warsaw and Frankfurt. Further access locations will be upgraded to meet customer demand. Teleglobe is a global Tier 1 Internet service provider (ISP) and operates the IP backbone AS 6453 which circles the globe. Teleglobe's global network supports a wide variety of advanced data and IP services including global IP transit, international private leased circuits (IPLs), bandwidth and broadcast services. Teleglobe has acquired capacity in over 100 subsea and terrestrial cable systems and has access to 40 antennas serving the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. The company's MPLS-enabled IP network connects more than 90 countries to the Internet and now supports IPv6.
