International Prestigious Prize Awarded to the Telenor Centre at
Fornebu
ATHENS, Greece and FORNEBU, Norway, June 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On
Thursday Telenor was awarded the prestigious Prix d'Excellence award in the
office/industry category. The competition included buildings around the world,
and the Telenor centre won over tough competitors such as Menara Telekom in
Malaysia, Science Park in Hungary and the World Meteorological Organisation in
Switzerland.
"On behalf of Telenor I am proud to receive the world's most prestigious award
for a business property. The award again confirms that the vision behind the
building was right, and that this concept really functions," says Roar Wiik
Andreassen, president and CEO of Telenor Eiendom.
The prize was awarded by the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) in
Athens, Greece. This is the second time that Norway and Telenor have won this
prize: in 2002 Telenor's building at Kokstad was given the same accolade.
This time the jury emphasised the exciting architectural design and the choice
of materials, consideration to the surroundings and its fitting into the
landscape. The building's flexibility was also emphasised, as well as the
interplay between people, technology and the surroundings.
Last year the Telenor Centre at Fornebu was honoured with the FIABCI Norway's
real estate prize, thus qualifying for participation for the international Prix
d'Excellence. The Telenor centre has previously received recognition in
different contexts: the The American Institute of Architects' Honor Award for
Architecture, the Norwegian Lyspris 2005, an award for the lighting in the
building, and Telenor centre was second place as the Favorittarbeidssted
(Favourite Workplace) in 2004, awarded by Aftenposten, a Norwegian daily
newspaper.
