Ixys (NASDAQ:SYXI)
Historical Stock Chart
From Jan 2020 to Jan 2025
IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ:SYXI) announced today that its
Micronix division has developed its next generation +/- 15V
Electrophoretic Display (EPD) Source Drivers, the MX860 and MXEI1480.
Using CMOS technology, the drivers feature serial-input,
parallel-output digital shift registers with level conversion and
precise PWM display grayscale on each parallel output. The MX860 has
selectable register lengths of 240, 256, or 268, and register lengths
of 400 or 480 are available on the MXEI1480. Both designs feature a
cascadeable architecture to facilitate various display resolutions.
"Clare Micronix's EPD source drivers were designed in
collaboration with E Ink Corporation, the world leader in electronic
paper (ePaper) display technology. Over the past several years,
Micronix has worked closely with us to understand the requirements for
driving our electrophoretic imaging film," said Rob Zehner, Product
Manager for E Ink. "As a result, their source driver ICs deliver
best-in-class performance, with key features like greatly reduced peak
power consumption."
"The MX860 and MXEI1480 are a direct result of our close
relationship with industry leaders of ePaper products," stated Bob
DeCaro, Vice President and General Manager of Clare Micronix. "These
two products are designed to drive either active or passive matrix
displays and both feature unique power management circuitry to reduce
the power required by half, an important feature for battery powered
applications. Micronix continues to demonstrate a strong presence in
providing leading products for the ePaper marketplace."
"The MX860 is a key component of our ER 0100, iLiad, electronic
reader device," commented iRex Technologies' Founder Dr. Alex Henzen,
Vice President of Process Development and Innovation. "Its unique
topology is integral for simultaneously extending battery life,
supporting excellent grayscale performance, and reducing system costs.
The Micronix team provided a clear product upgrade path that gave us a
competitive edge in the development of the ER 0100. The MX860 was a
superior improvement from our initial co-developed first generation E
Ink driver."
The MX860 and MXEI1480 are designed to operate from -40 degrees C
to +85 degrees C with a 2.7V to 5.5V logic supply voltage. Both are
available as Gold Bumped Die in Waffle Pack, and Gold Bumped Die in
Wafer Form, and the MX860 is additionally available in 48mm Tape
Carrier Package, and 15mm, RoHS compliant, 324 pin BGA package.
