IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ: SYXI), announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Clare, Inc., in Beverly, Massachusetts, has expanded its family of AC-Power Switches with the introduction of two new products, the CPC1962 and CPC1972. These products offer designers peak blocking voltages of 600 volts and 800 volts respectively. These devices use optical-coupling inputs, with dual power Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) outputs. In addition, tightly controlled zero-cross circuitry ensures switching of 120 to 240 Volt AC loads without the generation of transients. The CPC1962 has a continuous load current of 300mA while the CPC1972 is rated for 250mA. The input and output circuits are optically coupled to provide 3750Vrms of isolation and noise immunity between control and load circuits. As a result the CPC1962 and CPC1972 devices are well suited for industrial environments where electromagnetic interference could disrupt the operation of electromechanical relays (EMRs), or where EMRs cannot be used due to sparks. Both the CPC1962 and CPC1972 AC-Power Switches target replacing EMRs in electrical systems, to control AC power to the loads, without sparks, noise and at higher efficiency. These are fully Solid State semiconductor switches that meet the requirements of a variety of industrial applications including control circuits, switching panels and gas pump electronics. Other switches on the market do not provide this level of isolation, are more expensive and less reliable. These devices are fully RoHS compliant and are available in 6-Pin DIP or Surface Mount packages that offer significant size reduction in typical applications. These devices are ideal for limiting the inrush current from the AC line into switching power supplies, reducing the input circuit power dissipation in off line power supplies in standby or in its 'off' mode. The devices are part of IXYS' energy efficiency power semiconductor strategy to enable saving electrical power in power systems. Clare, Inc., a leader in the design and manufacture of solid-state relays and high voltage integrated circuits, is a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation. IXYS Corporation develops and markets primarily high performance power semiconductor devices that are used in controlling and converting electrical power efficiently in power systems for the telecommunication and internet infrastructure, motor drives, medical systems and transportation. IXYS also serves its markets with a combination of digital and analog integrated circuits. Additional information about Clare and IXYS may be found at www.clare.com and www.ixys.com. Any statements contained in this press release that are not statements of historical fact, including the performance, ruggedness, and suitability of products for various applications, may be deemed to be forward-looking statements. There are a number of important factors that could cause the results of IXYS to differ materially from those indicated by these forward-looking statements, including, among others, risks detailed from time to time in the Company's SEC reports, including its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2005.
