Symmetricom Announces Key Enhancements of V-Factor® Quality of Experience (QoE) Monitoring Platform

(NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader of precise time, synchronization and video quality management technologies that optimize next generation networks, today announced key enhancements to its Quality of Experience (QoE) portfolio with upgrades to both the V-Factor® Quality of Experience (QoE) monitoring platform and the Q-1000 Source Video Analyzer. Immediate benefits to broadcasters, operators and equipment vendors include improved monitoring and troubleshooting of digital video quality and the ability to better quantify the impact of new technologies, such as statistical multiplexing and advanced compression.

The V-Factor platform now exhibits extended monitoring capabilities including RFC 4445 Media Delivery Index (MDI) support, a streamlined user interface based on a new theme, easier navigation, detailed reporting and alarm information and an updated Web Service integration layer. New graphical components support channel and multiple program transport stream (MPTS) views to facilitate troubleshooting for program and multiplex related issues.

In addition to the V-Factor platform upgrade, the Q-1000 Source Video Analyzer now supports HD-SDI time codes (SMPTE RP188) as well as input profiles, allowing the user to tweak input parameters to optimize the MOS calculation for expert applications including digital archiving and golden eye automation tests. The Q-1000 also provides target profiles which allow content producers, programmers and broadcasters to define the target display for their content, making it ideal for three-screen convergence quality validation.
