Ixia Joins Symmetricom's SyncWorld(TM) Ecosystem Partnership Program

Network operators face the challenge of managing frequency, phase, and time-of-day synchronization when migrating from TDM to packet-based technologies. Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) and IEEE 1588v2 (Precision Timing Protocol) are two timing protocols that achieve the accurate clock synchronization needed to deliver mobile voice over packet-based backhaul networks. Ixia's timing protocol test solution was the first in the industry to evaluate the functionality, conformance, and performance of IEEE 1588v2 and Synchronous Ethernet implementations on telecommunication network equipment.
