SumTotal Systems (Nasdaq:SUMTE), the largest provider of
learning and business performance technologies and services, today
announced that it has expanded its senior management team with the
addition of Harnish Kanani, new senior vice president, professional
services and training, and Mark Cuny, new corporate controller.
Kanani brings a wealth of experience to SumTotal's professional
services team, including more than 20 years of driving technology
development and deployment for global customers as a consultant with
CapGemini Ernst and Young and TATA Consulting. Just prior to assuming
his new role at SumTotal, Kanani was COO for Emagia, a financial
enterprise software provider, where he led the global services, sales
and support teams, in addition to managing internal operations.
At SumTotal, Kanani will have responsibility for driving the
development of processes and strategies focused on successful system
deployment and customer satisfaction. He also will lead SumTotal's
customer training organization, overseeing the enhancement of the
company's training offering based on customer feedback and marketplace
demands.
"SumTotal has come through an extremely successful merger and
integration and I'm delighted to be joining the company as it enters
its next phase of growth as a global provider," said Kanani. "As the
number of customers implementing our state-of-the-art platform
continues to expand, I look forward to developing the highly scalable
teams and flexible service models required to meet customer need and
to fuel our growth."
As SumTotal's corporate controller, Cuny will be responsible for
all accounting functions and infrastructure and the maintenance of the
company's financial control environment. Cuny joins SumTotal after
spending a decade at Siebel Systems, where he was most recently group
director of accounting. While at Siebel, Cuny helped establish the
company's financial infrastructure, as well as overseeing all
financial functions of the company's 15 subsidiaries in Asia Pacific,
Latin America and Canada. Cuny also had extensive experience helping
Siebel document procedures, risks and controls to support its
compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Prior to Siebel, Cuny helped
drive the financial affairs of a wide variety of companies, including
Weyerhaeuser, Datagate Inc. and Forensic Analytical.
"SumTotal has an outstanding reputation as a technology innovator
that has helped define the industry. We are experiencing significant
growth and success despite a challenging software marketplace and we
continue to capture marketshare," said Cuny. "By further improving
financial processes and infrastructure, I look forward to helping
guide the company's future expansion around the globe."
"The depth and experience of our management team are key reasons
why SumTotal leads in our industry," said R. Andrew Eckert, SumTotal
CEO. "SumTotal stands to benefit considerably from Harnish's and
Mark's industry expertise and successful track records producing
healthy companies and happy customers. Their addition to our
leadership organization will help us ensure that our products and
services effectively meet the needs of our global enterprise customers
and that we remain a strong, stable partner for these organizations
over the long-term."
