Successful Demonstration of New Resilient Wireless Packet Ring Protocol(TM) SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Stratex Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:STXN), a leading provider of wireless transmission solutions, is participating in the official conference of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) organized by IIR in Madrid, Spain, September 26-29, 2006. The event also showcases a multi-vendor interoperability network in which Stratex Networks demonstrates Eclipse Wireless Gigabit Ethernet links with its Resilient Wireless Packet Ring Protocol(TM) (RWPR). The multi-vendor network was initially constructed at the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC) where interoperability tests were completed and documented. Three Eclipse 18GHz Links were deployed as an access ring with a bi-directional capacity of 155Mb/s and carrying native Ethernet via Gigabit interfaces. Wireless Ring Protection was configured and tested using Stratex Networks' Resilient Wireless Packet Ring Protocol (RWPR) The CEWC 2006 interoperability event is designed to serve as a blueprint for multi-vendor infrastructures offering Carrier Ethernet business services, Triple Play IPTV and Voice over IP residential services. The test event brings together equipment suppliers and European service providers to demonstrate practical implementations of Carrier Ethernet and to address key interoperability issues before actual network implementations. Stratex Networks' Eclipse is the only Wireless Transmission Solution featured. The other participants include: Actelis Networks, ADVA Optical Networking, Alcatel, Ciena, Circadiant Systems, Corrigent Systems, Huawei Technologies, Ixia, Juniper Networks, Lucent Technologies, Nortel, RAD Data Communications, Redback Networks, Telco Systems a BATM company, Tellabs, and T-Systems.
