Iiyama Designs Silicon Image's PanelLink SiI 1161 Receiver Into UXGA Monitors
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, , a leader
in multi-gigabit semiconductor solutions for the secure transmission and storage
of rich digital media, today announced that Iiyama (Nagano City, Japan) has
designed Silicon Image's PanelLink(R) SiI(TM) 1161(TM) Digital Visual Interface
(DVI) receiver into its ProLite H510 and ProLite H540S UXGA monitors.
According to market research firm DisplaySearch, in Q2 '03 Iiyama was the number
one supplier of 19-inch UXGA liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors and greater
than 20-inch QXGA+ LCD monitors, and the number two supplier of 20-inch QXGA LCD
monitors.
Satoru Murakoshi, department manager, Visual-Media Control Technical No. 2
Department at Iiyama, noted, "We are pleased to strengthen our relationship with
Silicon Image and incorporate their SiI 1161 in our high-resolution UXGA
displays. With its universal interoperability, our customers are assured of
having a crystal-clear image on their display, no matter the quality of the DVI
source device. Combined with the SiI 1161's superior performance over long
cable lengths, these advantages compelled us to switch from our existing UXGA
DVI receiver supplier. In fact, we are so pleased with the SiI 1161's
performance that we are considering incorporating it into our future WUXGA and
QXGA monitors."
Shyam Nagrani, Silicon Image's director of product marketing, digital PC/display
products, stated, "Silicon Image's SiI 1161 raises the bar for DVI receiver
performance. With its unrivaled long cable-length performance and
interoperability with the broadest range of DVI source devices, the SiI 1161 is
the highest-quality UXGA receiver in the industry. The SiI 1161 compensates for
non-compliant DVI transmitter implementations, assuring consumers of the
highest-quality digital image on their LCD monitor."
Iiyama is the latest of several manufacturers to recognize the advantages of the
SiI 1161 receiver and design it into their monitors. The SiI 1161 creates an
unrivaled performance standard for DVI interoperability and long-distance cable
support. Like the other receivers in the SiI 1000 series, the SiI 1161 features
an innovative and scalable Phase Lock Loop (PLL) architecture that enables
interoperability with a broader range of DVI transmitters as well as robust,
unprecedented performance over long cable lengths. Key to these capabilities is
an increased tolerance for lower-quality DVI signals with large amounts of
jitter and noise. Operating at 25-165 MHz, the SiI 1161 receiver is
pin-compatible with the SiI 161B receiver for easy design integration and quick
time-to-market.
Currently available, Iiyama's ProLite H510 and ProLite H540S monitors are
targeted at high-end consumers and professionals. The ProLite H510 is a
20.1-inch UXGA monitor, and the ProLite H540S is a 21.3-inch UXGA monitor. Both
boast a USB 2.0 port, as well as two DVI ports. In addition, both feature sRGB
support and a 170-degree viewing angle. The ProLite H510 has a contrast of
600:1, while the ProLite H540S has a contrast of 500:1.
