New SilkTest Version Leverages Software Quality Optimization In
Multi-Platform Environments
Segue Software (NASDAQ-SCM: SEGU), the leader in Software Quality
Optimization(TM) (SQO(TM)) today announced the release of SilkTest(R)
7.6, featuring support for Motif(R)-based applications running on
Sun(R) Solaris(TM) UNIX(R) and Red Hat(R) Enterprise Linux(R)
platforms. With SilkTest 7.6, Segue(R) extends the depth and breadth
of supported environments for functional testing activities. SilkTest
7.6 is available immediately.
SilkTest enables organizations to quickly and cost-effectively
automate the functional testing of applications on several leading
platforms--including several versions of Windows and now Linux and
UNIX. With SilkTest, users can conduct simultaneous, cross-platform
testing of applications in a number of different environments, using
one set of test scripts. For example, a customer developing software
on Windows, Linux and Sun Solaris UNIX can now use a single test
script, running in parallel, to verify the quality of all supported
platforms. SilkTest 7.6 eliminates the need to invest in separate
functional testing solutions for each supported environment or to
rewrite multiple scripts customized for each platform. Additionally,
the ability to run tests on all platforms simultaneously can
dramatically reduce test cycle times.
SilkTest 7.6 introduces support for the following environments:
-- Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 2.1 and 3.0
-- Sun Solaris 9 and 10
-- Motif 2.1 and 2.2
In addition to these new platforms, SilkTest also supports
applications developed in ActiveX, Java, PowerBuilder, Visual Basic
and XML on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows
XP and Windows Server 2003.
"Many companies today develop applications that run on multiple
platforms. Or, an enterprise may utilize multiple operating system
environments to support different processes critical to business
operations," said Andre Pino, chief marketing officer, Segue Software.
"Up until now, it has been resource intensive and costly to test
applications on a variety of platforms. Individual operating systems
typically require separate testing solutions to support functional
testing activities. We're pleased to expand SilkTest's support to the
Linux and UNIX operating systems. Now companies running applications
on multiple platforms can consolidate their testing solutions for
greater efficiency and higher return on investment."
About SilkTest
SilkTest is the industry-leading automated tool for testing the
functionality of enterprise applications in any environment. It
enables organizations to thoroughly verify application reliability
within the confines of today's short testing cycles by leveraging the
accuracy, consistency and time-saving benefits of Segue's automated
testing technology. Designed for ease of use, SilkTest includes a host
of productivity-boosting features that let both novice and expert
users create functional tests quickly, execute them unattended and
analyze results instantly. With less time spent on testing, QA staff
can expand the depth and breadth of test coverage, optimizing software
quality. In addition to validating the full functionality of an
application prior to its initial release, users can easily evaluate
the impact of new enhancements on existing functionality by simply
reusing pre-existing test cases. Due to its object-oriented
architecture, tests developed in SilkTest are easily maintained and
reusable from one build to the next, as well as from release to
release.
