Item 5.02:  Departure of Principal Officers

On May 23, 2011, Robert L. Davis, Jr., Executive Vice President - Commercial Banking Executive of Southern Community Financial Corporation, announced his resignation from the Company to pursue other interests.  His resignation will be effective May 31, 2011.

Southern Community Financial Corporation is headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and is the holding company of Southern Community Bank and Trust a community bank, with twenty-two banking offices throughout North Carolina.
