CR4 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor-based SBC provides
high-performance computing power on a small footprint
-- Intel Pentium M 1.4 MHz low voltage processor
-- 3U CompactPCI(R) form factor
-- Ruggedized convection or conduction-cooled versions
-- System controller or peripheral mode operation
-- Type I CompactFlash(R) module on daughter card
SBS Technologies(R) (Nasdaq:SBSE) continues its role as an
embedded computer market leader by introducing a powerful new rugged
3U CompactPCI Single Board Computer designed for harsh environments,
making it ideal for demanding military and industrial applications.
The convection- or conduction-cooled CR4 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M
processor-based SBC packs high-performance computing power in a small
3U package making it a tailored fit for many military applications.
The CR4 gives engineers abundant I/O to work with by providing two
Gigabit Ethernet ports, two 32-bit 33/66 MHz PCI bus interfaces, an
RS-232 and an RS-422/485 serial I/O ports and ten general-purpose I/O
lines to the backplane with separate interrupts and interrupt masking
capability. This SBC also incorporates the Intel 855GME chipset, which
includes the Intel 855GME Graphics Memory Controller Hub (GMCH) and
Intel 6300ESB I/O Controller Hub (ICH).
"Fitting a rugged high-performance embedded computer into the
limited space available in many military and commercial applications
is now easier thanks to the small footprint of the 3U CR4 single board
computer. The CR4's sophisticated power management technology and
extended temperature range adds design flexibility that lets system
designers address application needs as never before with a commercial
off-the-shelf processor," said Wayne McGee, General Manager of the SBS
Technologies Single Board Computer design center in North Carolina.
The CR4's PLX(R) PCI 6254 PCI/PCI bridge handles 32-bit data
transfers to and from the CompactPCI backplane, and through the
bridge's dual mode capability, the CR4 can operate as a system
controller or peripheral processor card eliminating the need to stock
multiple configurations.
The CR4 supports various operating systems as well as the SBS
Ready Driver(TM) interoperability program.
Price and Availability:
Available now, the pricing for the convection-cooled CR4 in single
quantities starts at US$3600; the conduction-cooled CR4 in single
quantities starts at US$7350.
