GREER, S.C., June 2  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ryan's Restaurant Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:RYAN) today reported sales results for the 4-week period ended May 31, 2006 ("May").  Same-store sales for May decreased by 1.7%.  Other details and comments follow:

Management believes that May's softer sales result from the adverse impact of higher gasoline prices on the discretionary spending of its customer base.

At May 31, 2006, the Company owned and operated 336 restaurants.

The Company's next accounting period consists of 4 weeks, ending on June 28, 2006.
