Red Hat, Inc. (NASDAQ: RHAT), the world's leading provider of open
source solutions, today announced that the company has experienced
strong growth in Spain in recent months, with a substantial increase in
the number of customers that rely on its open source technology.
Companies from multiple sectors, including energy, insurance, financial
services, shipping, logistics and public sector are selecting Red Hat
solutions to provide stability to their mission critical information
systems. “Red Hat is experiencing strong
momentum in Spain, where companies are opting for a broad rollout of
open source software to benefit from a complete open source
architecture, without any hidden costs. Customers are choosing Red Hat
for its commitment to interoperability between platforms and reliability
of its technology,” said Werner Knoblich, VP
of EMEA at Red Hat.
In the insurance sector, Union Alcoyana is one of the recent customers
that deployed Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the main operating system in a
number of IT projects. “We just recently
finished our web server project,” explained José
Agulló, Programmer Analyst of the insurance
company. “We had previously been experiencing
hardware compatibility problems and also some issues regarding server
security, so a new system was essential. The implementation was a
success and working with Red Hat has undoubtedly had very real benefits
for our company. This project was the most recent in a long-standing
relationship with Red Hat and we continue to rely on their strong
support, technical service and product updates.”
Arsys, a leading Internet service provider in Spain with regional
presence in France and Portugal, announced its migration to Red Hat
Enterprise Linux as its main platform to develop and offer secure
Internet services to its 120,000 customers across Europe in September
this year. By migrating to Red Hat, Arsys benefits from reduced costs
and extended support for seven years through the Red Hat Network for
updates and patches, as well as the automation of key administrative
tasks that will drastically reduce the working hours for the staff
maintaining the platforms. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform will
enable Arsys to provide services such as Apache, PHP, MySQL, Postfix and
Cyrus technologies to its customers.
“We chose Red Hat because of its combination
of leading market position, industry support and certification from the
major hardware and software manufacturers, the security and reliability
of the platform and the training, support and tools. Taken together,
migrating across to Red Hat will help us to ease part of our IT
management cycle and allow us to save a considerable amount of time,”
commented Manuel Amutio, General Technical Director at Arsys Internet.
