Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS: RCII), today donated electronics, including a large-screen HDTV, seven desktop computers and two gaming consoles to Applegate Housing. The donation is tied to a philanthropic initiative dubbed “Random Acts of Caring,” launched by Rent-A-Center in 2008.

“Due to a very generous donation from Rent-A-Center, Applegate Housing is able to expand its educational, creative, and recreational programming,” said Kim Funck, executive director of Applegate Housing. “It is because of generous supportive individuals at Rent-A-Center that our community continues to enrich the lives of many individuals and families.”

Applegate Housing, Inc. is a non-profit private entity that provides essential resident services to the elderly, adolescents, youth, families, and individuals. The electronics will be utilized in the newly completed Resident Center, which provides workshops, seminars and activities to Bennington County residents.

“We selected Applegate Housing in recognition of this organization’s important work in meeting the needs and improving the lives of residents in Bennington County,” said Xavier Dominicis, vice president of public affairs at Rent-A-Center. “Today’s Random Act of Caring marks the 80th act undertaken since Rent-A-Center launched this initiative to support the communities it serves.”

Rent-A-Center, Inc., headquartered in Plano, Texas, currently operates approximately 3,000 company-owned stores nationwide and in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The stores generally offer high-quality, durable goods such as major consumer electronics, appliances, computers, furniture and accessories under flexible rental-purchase agreements that generally allow the customer to obtain ownership of the merchandise at the conclusion of an agreed upon rental period.
