Putnam Investments Announces Shareholder Meeting Schedule for Putnam Municipal Opportunities Trust

Putnam Investments and the Board of Trustees of the Putnam Funds today announced that the annual meeting of shareholders of Putnam Municipal Opportunities Trust will be held on February 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., Boston time, at the principal offices of the fund on the 8th floor of One Post Office Square, Boston, Massachusetts. The meeting is expected to consider a proposal to fix the number of Trustees at 14 and elect nominees for the fund's Trustees. Shareholders of record at the close of business on December 14, 2009 are entitled to be present and to vote at the meeting or any adjourned meeting.
