Prosoft Learning Corp. (NASDAQ: POSO), owner of the CIW
certification program, today announced that Web technology classes in
select Wisconsin high schools have begun incorporating CIW curriculum.
These schools are part of a pilot program created by a new CIW
statewide partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Public
Instruction. Through the partnership, Prosoft will work with the state
to support teachers throughout the CIW implementation process at all
participating Wisconsin high schools. Introducing the CIW curriculum
helps schools meet the state's established Academic Standards for
Information and Technology Literacy. Wisconsin represents the 10th
state that has endorsed the CIW program.
Benjamin Fink, president and CEO of Prosoft, said, "We are
especially pleased with our ability to partner with the state of
Wisconsin, which is known nationwide for its progressive attitude
toward technology education. Our goal is to make sure that Wisconsin
students are the ultimate beneficiaries of this partnership: They will
be able to show increased IT workforce readiness by graduating with
both a diploma and an industry-recognized certification. By working
together, we will create a pool of future IT professionals who can
participate in Wisconsin's growing economy."
The program implementation began with a state-funded pilot phase
rolled out in four high schools. During this phase, Prosoft provided
the pilot schools with Official CIW Curriculum, assessment tools to
help students prepare for CIW exams, and membership in the CIW
Certified Testing Center (CTC) program that enables in-class testing
for CIW certification exams.
The award-winning CIW certification program helps individuals
prepare for the highly competitive digital economy by teaching the
essential Internet-technology and workplace skills required by today's
employers. CIW is the world's largest industry-recognized
job-readiness certification, validating skills in a variety of IT
disciplines, including Web site and e-commerce development, network
administration, security and Web languages.
