Nielsen Norman Group Releases In-Depth Report on Top Public Sector Intranets
SAN FRANCISCO, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Enterprise Web leader
Plumtree Software (NASDAQ:PLUM) today announced new findings by the Nielson
Norman Group that rank the Plumtree-powered intranets of Defense Finance and
Accounting Service (DFAS) and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario
(WSIB) among the top 10 government intranet designs in the world. The Nielsen
Norman Group's "Ten Best Government and Public Sector Intranet Designs,"
released today presents detailed case studies on the public sector
organizations that are producing the highest return on their investments and
greatest productivity gains by making their intranets richer and easier to use.
DFAS is the world's largest finance and accounting operation, processing
payroll, vendor payment and accounting for all branches of the U.S. military,
the Department of Defense and other select federal agencies. DFAS disburses
more than $416 billion annually, pays nearly 6 million people and processes
more than 12 million invoices from defense contractors each year. The Nielsen
Norman Group lauded DFAS for consolidating more than 200 individual Web sites
into their Plumtree-powered portal. Launched in July of 2003, DFAS' portal
gives its nearly 15,000 employees an online working environment with
centralized access to tens of thousands of documents, team collaboration spaces
and automated processes such as travel reimbursements and training requests.
"The DFAS eportal has helped to make the agency more efficient and effective,"
said Audrey Y. Davis, chief information officer for DFAS. "Our portal delivers
the information and tools our employees need to make their jobs easier and to
better serve the men and women who defend America."
Plumtree customer Workplace Safety and Insurance Board was also recognized for
its innovative and easy-to-use Connex portal.
"Plumtree customers have some of the largest, most sophisticated portals in the
world," said Plumtree CEO John Kunze. "DFAS and WSIB have rigorously sought to
deliver ROI by tailoring their portals to address top business problems, manual
processes and collaboration needs of their organizations. They have paid
special attention to making their portals easy to use so their constituents can
take full advantage of new services. We congratulate them for winning this
prestigious award."
